Recall Summary
13 Toyota Models sold between August 2000 and January 2012, which includes Prius and Wish were included in a filing with Japan’s Transport Ministry.
Problem
(1) The steering component fault is due to insufficient hardness of the extension shaft, which could cause the parts connecting it to the steering gear box to deform under certain driving conditions, eventually leading to loss of steering ability.
(2) The hybrid electric water pump fault could lead to illumination of various warning lights on the Prius’ instrument panel or, in rare cases, stop the hybrid system while the vehicle is being driven, increasing the risk of an accident. Repairs will take one to two hours.
